Melk abbey from the train on the way to St. Polten. I hope to actually go there on Sunday.
These ones are especcialy for you, Nathan. Our Byzantine chapel. Or, technically, LCI's. It was just a storage closet 4 years ago. It is very small, but so ornate and beautiful. Two LCI students spent several summers working on it, and they have only one blank wall left...Nathan?
There are tentative plans for a huge Byzantine Chapel to be built above the Kartause Maria Thron Chapel, in the 20ft. between the baroque ceiling and the Gothic ceiling. East and West would meet under one roof. It is still in the very early stages of planning, and may never happen, but I hope I hope I hope it does.
Left to Right: Salvation History.
And, of course, it has an icon of St. Francis, along with like 25 other saints, seated along the walls where the congregation sits, most of them of the Eastern tradition and unbeknownst to me.
A student found this icon in someone's trash in Gaming, and brought it back here to be properly venerated.
This is my painting for art class of the Kartause Chapel facade.
Just kidding. I am not putting my sketch up here - but it did look just like this.
