A couple more March for Life pictures from the FUS website
A whole bunch of FUS students on the steps of the basilica. Locate a man in a bright red hat at the far left under the lamp post - Kyle. I am in my grey hat next to him.
The rainbow at the end of the march. And I am keeping my little patch of cement dry while waiting for the bus. And Gerard either has a backache or is bowing.
Father Terry our president and some cool people.
And some more cool people.

March for Life 2008 - Washington D.C. under the FUS banner!
Mass at 7:30 at the Basilica. My first time in the basilica - I like. The new Cardinal-what's-his-name from Houston celebrated Mass. (In opening his homily, he said everyone could sleep through it seeing as how most of the thousand some odd people just got off sleepless buses. I thought he was joking, but as I looked down our pew half way through the homily I realized everyone took him quite seriously but me, which made me unable to take anything seriously for the rest of the Mass - trying to control my giggles as I noticed heads nodding!)
Rosalie, Elizabeth, Kyle and Regina, with faces frozen in a smile while trying to take a group picture of all 700 FUS students on the steps of the shrine.
Yvonne in the coat that she hates for its pinkness
The basilica
We were just talking about having never seen a real wardrobe like in Narnia, and here in D.C. we found one.

Elizabeth and some copper statues
Regina found a friend
Hmm, this looks like a cozy place to explore....wonder what's in here? Turns out to be the National Gallery of Art, and the only thing that tears us away an hour and a half later are repeated calls from the girls back at the rally to bring them sandwiches pronto. It was absolutely amazing, oh my gosh! Next year we are spending much more time there.

Some more pictures of my Von Steuben sisters
Monday, October 8, 2007
SCYTHIAN busting out the jigs and reels right outside my door!!!! The concert was amazing...even if I only got to see the last hour . These three guys are just a sample of our super cool Steubie U Alums. A bunch of the Fedoryka family was there with them, with neices and nephews bouncing off and on the stage and being tossed into the crowd. The music was awsome. It almost made up for missing Gaelic Storm in Pitt the first weekend I was here. They even sang a song just for me: I Will Go [to McLoud]!
Meet the Von Steuben Phamily - Nine orphans in the Ohio Valley
It's Parents weekend. But we nine are without parents. Yet we are not alone. Meet the Von Steuben Phamily: Christine, Yvonne (picture at right and below), Regina (making pie), Rosalie (that's the back of her head, below right), Elizabeth, Kyle, Nathan (see swordfighters), Steve, and Yours Truly. There are only three qualifications to be a part of our family, it seems. A) orphaned on parent's weekend B) if not entirely insane, at least an oddity among men and C) willing to be treated like a sibling, i.e, rivalry, revelry, punishment, and criticism, and a family...the whole picture; for such are our only commonalities.Orphans who play together stay together.
